Wisdom for living
Micah 6:8
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."— Micah 6:8, NIV
Reflection
Three verbs, in order. Act justly — do right by others, especially those without power. Love mercy — go beyond justice when you can. Walk humbly with your God — don't make this about your reputation. The simplicity is staggering. Most religion adds. Micah subtracts. He's saying: here's what God wants; everything else is commentary. If you wanted a one-verse summary of the Christian life, this is a serious candidate. Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly. Repeat tomorrow.
Prayer
Lord, today help me act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. In one specific situation, show me what each looks like.
