Purpose and calling

Matthew 6:33

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."Matthew 6:33, NIV

Reflection

Jesus says this right after a long passage about food and clothes and worry. The order matters. Seek first — not seek also, not seek when convenient. The promise on the other side is that the practical things will come; but the priority is set. Most of us have inverted this. We seek the things first, and try to fit the kingdom into what's left. Today's invitation is to flip it back. Seeking first looks small: a few minutes of scripture, a prayer for the person in front of you, an obedient yes to the inconvenient thing.

Prayer

Jesus, today I want to seek you first. Help me notice the moments I'm seeking everything else first instead.
