Comfort in hard seasons

Matthew 11:28-30

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."Matthew 11:28-30, NIV

Reflection

The invitation is to the weary, not the well-rested. Jesus offers rest, but it comes with a yoke — meaning rest, in the kingdom, isn't the absence of work. It's the right work, with the right partner. A yoke is what farm animals share to plow a field together; one carries the other when the other tires. Jesus says his yoke is easy not because nothing is asked of you, but because he's pulling alongside you. You don't have to plow alone.

Prayer

Jesus, I'm tired. Take this with me. Show me the work that's actually mine to carry today.
