Purpose and calling
Matthew 5:14-16
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."— Matthew 5:14-16, NIV
Reflection
Notice Jesus says you ARE the light, not 'try to be one.' The identity is given. The work is removing what hides it. Most of us aren't hiding the light by accident — we're hiding it because we're afraid of being seen, of being misread, of being expected to live up to what shining suggests. The verse doesn't ask you to perform; it asks you to stop dimming. Good deeds are the natural overflow of a light that isn't being suppressed. Take the bowl off.
Prayer
Father, let my light shine today — not for my reputation, but for your name.
