Hope and the future
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."— Hebrews 11:1, NIV
Reflection
Faith isn't a feeling, it's a stance. Confidence and assurance are decisions of the will, made repeatedly, often against what the evidence is currently shouting. The chapter that follows this verse is a parade of people who acted on this stance without ever seeing the outcome — Abraham, Moses, Rahab, all 'commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.' That's hard. The faith was the inheritance, not the outcome. If you're hoping for something you can't see, you're in good company.
